Clavister to Secure Wireless Hot Spots and Internet connections for 3,000 journalists

On the 19th of June Swedish Crown Princess Victoria will marry Daniel Westling. The City of Stockholm is honoring the marriage with a two week celebration; LOVE Stockholm 2010.

Clavister, a Swedish company specializing in the development of advanced IT security solutions, will work together with Swedish IT-provider DataCom to secure the wireless connections provided by the City of Stockholm at the media center, theme areas and hot spots around the city.

The Media Centre, which is the largest and most complex ever built in Sweden, will have to deal with approximately 3,000 working journalists during the festivities. The security will be provided by Clavister SG4370 firewalls with its advanced intrusion detection functionality. To guarantee necessary bandwidth and avoid bottle necks at critical locations Clavister’s traffic management system will be used.

“Keeping the network and information secure is a vital component of the task, especially given the global reach and high user demand during the course of the wedding celebrations. Infiltration of a virus, a malicious attack, or entry by hackers could prove disastrous for the event profile, for information security as well as for individuals logged onto the network. Clavister AB, a Swedish company, has been assigned the task of providing network security for the duration of this prestigious event”, said Jonas Herner, Country Manager Sweden at Clavister.

The assignment will be carried out in cooperation with network provider DataCom (lead contractor) and Meru Networks, a wireless networking specialist. Last summer, the three companies worked together in the same way to build and secure the network for another major event, the Volvo Ocean Race in Stockholm.
