Software Lifecycle Policy

Just as our products evolve, so does our software. Our secure, optimised network operating systems and other software are continuously updated to meet customer needs. We use Long Term Support (LTS) releases and maintain the two latest LTS versions along with the latest feature release. Below is a brief overview of the release types and the currently supported versions.

Predictable support.
Secure operation. Clear upgrade paths.

Clavister software releases follow a defined lifecycle policy designed to provide clarity, security, and long-term predictability for our customers.

This policy explains:

How long software versions are supported

What type of updates customers receive

When upgrades are required to remain supported

What customers should know first:

If I deploy a Clavister software version today, how long will it be supported?

  • Most Clavister software support two major versions in parallel
  • Each major version (within dual-major) is supported for at least 24 months
  • Some software only have support for the latest major
  • Some releases are designated Long-Term Support (LTS) with extended lifecycles

Exact lifecycle details are always communicated per software.

Software lifecycle models

Clavister software versions are delivered through clearly defined release types.
Each release type determines what kind of changes are included, not how long the version is supported.

Dual-Major Support Model (Default)

This model is used for most infrastructure and security-critical software components where stability and predictability are essential.

At any given time, two major versions are supported.

Active Major – Continuous Improvement

  • New features and enhancements
  • Bug fixes
  • Security updates
  • Recommended for new deployments

Maintenance Major – Maintenance Only

  • Security updates
  • Bug fixes
  • No new features

Support commitment

  • A major version is supported for a minimum of 24 months from initial release
  • When a new major version is released:
  • The previous Active Major becomes Maintenance

Customer benefit

  • Freedom to choose when to adopt new functionality
  • No forced upgrades to stay secure
  • Clear and predictable upgrade planning

Long-Term Support (LTS) releases

Some Clavister software releases may be designated as Long-Term Support (LTS).

What LTS means

Extended support period beyond standard lifecycle models, focusing on:

  • Stability
  • Security updates
  • Critical bug fixes
  • No or very limited feature changes

Important

  • LTS status is explicitly communicated per release
  • Each LTS version is supported for at least 48 months

Typical use cases

  • Regulated environments
  • Critical infrastructure
  • Long hardware refresh cycles

Single-Major Support Model

Support scope

Only the latest released major version is supported.

  • Security updates
  • Bug fixes
  • New features

Customer responsibility

  • Customers must upgrade to the latest major to remain supported

Typical use cases

  • Rapidly evolving services
  • Cloud-connected components
  • Software with short adoption cycles

End of Support (EoS)

When a software version reaches End of Support:

  • No further updates or security patches are provided
  • Technical support requests may be limited or declined
  • Customers are strongly recommended to upgrade to a supported version

Clavister aims to provide advance notice before any version reaches End of Support.
